(SOLD) Antique Gold and Enamel "Cherubs Forging Heart" Brooch
Darling, Romantic.
This is a gorgeous, sentimental jewel — a gold brooch depicting a charming scene of two winged cupids forging a heart at the anvil. A ruby is the “heart” and three diamonds represent the shooting sparks generated by the strikes at the anvil!
The enameling is artistically applied, showing individuality in the faces, dimension to the chubby bodies, and a real sense of motion as the little cupids labor away to forge love!
We had a similar jewel some time ago, which we enjoyed in our personal collection for years. We are so very fortunate to have found another! This one has the advantage of a curvy shape reminiscent of an architectural window, accented by gold beads.
The closure is a trombone-type safety.
We adore this as a brooch, but at buyer’s option, we can discuss conversion possibilities (additional cost to be determined).
Unmarked.
18k gold, diamond, ruby, sapphire paste.
Dimensions and weight:
● 34.3 mm long x. 34.3 mm wide
● 9.3 mm deep (including pin)/4.6 mm deep (not including pin)
● Largest ruby approx. 3.5 mm x 3.2 mm
● 12.9 grams
Period: Late Victorian/Edwardian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present.
