(SOLD) Vintage Moonstone and Diamond "Halo Moon" Locket with Chain
(SOLD) Vintage Moonstone and Diamond "Halo Moon" Locket with Chain
Heavenly, Ethereal.
We fell hard for this exceptional locket.
On its face, this is undoubtedly a stunning jewel. A luminous, high dome moonstone with an intense “blue flash” is surrounded by a triple circlet of twinkling old mine cut diamonds. The effect is otherworldly and mesmerizing. We are reminded of the lunar halo that is formed when moonlight refracts from tiny ice crystals in the atmosphere. A celestial jewel, indeed.
Look more closely, to discover that this beauty is a survivor. The hallmarks present are Polish, used from 1931 to 1963. We date this locket to the 1930s, before Germany’s invasion of Poland in 1939, which started WWII and years of hardship and devastation in Poland.
We include a vintage 18k gold elongated box chain with the locket. Locket compartment is present inside, on one side.
Marked with Polish mark for 14k gold (in use 1931-63), unidentified mark on the chain.
14k gold (locket), moonstone, diamond, 18k gold (chain)
Dimensions and weight:
● 33 mm long (including bail)/ 16.5 inches long on the chain
