(SOLD) Antique French Gold Book Locket Pendant
(SOLD) Antique French Gold Book Locket Pendant
For the lovers of books, travel, history, souvenirs, France.
We adore jewels that transport us to a bygone time, and this one does exactly that.
A pendant is masterfully rendered in the form of a miniature book, accented with gemstones at the binding and side clasp. The book “opens” — to reveal 4 pages, each containing tiny scenic photographs — memories from a long ago journey from Paris to Nice. On the back cover, an inscription in French tells us that this voyage was made 110 years ago, in February 1913.
If so desired, replace the antique images with your own mementos — simply lift out the frames, which are still in place.
To open and close: Gently pull-up on the front cover to reveal the first 2 pages and do the same at the back cover to reveal the last 2 pages. Do not pull the side “clasp" to attempt to open. To close, press covers toward the side “clasp” and the book will click securely closed.
Marked with obscured marks. We do believe this to be French.
18k gold, diamond, pinkish/red gemstone (1 paste, 2 ruby).
Dimensions and weight:
● 22 mm long/28.5 mm long including bail
● 19 mm wide
● 5.8 mm deep
● 9.5 grams
Period: Edwardian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. We observe there is a small, shallow indentation on the front cover of the book, just below the centerpoint — not very noticeable, especially given the texture of the cover.
*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
