Vintage French Gold and Platinum Diamond Shield Signet Ring (1.06 CTW)
Vintage French Gold and Platinum Diamond Shield Signet Ring (1.06 CTW)
Strength, Protection.
What can we say, except that we love, love, love this ring! So chic, so statement-making, and so wearable. Surely, this will become a personal, daily signature.
What do we adore? The gadrooned signet, surmounted at the tablet by a shield — a symbol of strength and empowerment. The shield is platinum, studded with 12 old European cut diamonds. The center diamond is a plump one of 2/3 of a carat, surrounded by 11 additional diamonds that vary in size to follow the curving contours of the shield.
Just fantastic. We love the subtle contrast between the whites of the platinum at the shield and the gold at the shank.
Marked with French mask for 950 platinum and French St. Jacques shell for minimum of 14k gold (both partially rubbed, but discernible)
Minimum 14k white gold (tests at about 17k), platinum, diamond.
Dimensions and weight:
● 16.3 mm long
● 19 mm wide
● US ring size 6.5 to 6.75 (there is room under the dome of the ring and the shank is not perfectly round). We do not offer sizing on this ring.
● 1.06 ctw (central diamond .66 ct/I color/VS1; surrounding diamonds .40 ctw/H-I colors/SI and I clarities)
● 6.7 grams
Period: 20th Century (circa 1930s to 1950s)
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. This ring has been previously resized, and at close inspection, the white gold in the resized portion at the back of the shank reads a smidge warmer than the rest. This is normal and acceptable, and it is not noticeable in normal wear. We do not offer sizing on this ring; if buyer needs to resize, we advise getting the work done by a very skilled jeweler to preserve the French assay marks (this might not be possible, depending on the sizing).
