(SOLD) Antique Victorian Gold Fringe Collar Necklace
(SOLD) Antique Victorian Gold Fringe Collar Necklace
Alluring, Refined.
The ancient world inspired the Victorians, as archeological finds unearthed the golden treasures of bygone civilizations. Here, we have a Victorian collar, circa 1870, with graduated, amphorae-inspired fringe. Each drop is fully three-dimensional. What a joy to behold a Victorian jewel that is so minimalist and modern in its appeal. We love the streamlined design contrasted with the rich bloomed finish. We are especially delighted that this beauty displays a full fringe, extending even to the barrel clasp.
Out of dozens of drops in this collar of over 150 years, we see only one that has a dent (between 2 and 3 o’clock in the full view photo). In our opinion, this is not readily noticeable and does not detract from the beauty or desirability of this piece.
Unmarked.
14k/15k gold (likely 15k gold).
Dimensions and weight:
● 14.86 inches/37.7 cm long
● Drops range from 20 mm to 12 mm long
● Drops range from 4.5 mm to 2.8 mm deep
● 26 grams
Period: Victorian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. Note also that the barrel clasp requires manual dexterity, given the fineness of the construction.
