(SOLD) Antique Gold Celestial Orb Pendant Watch, with Diamond and Enamel Stars
(SOLD) Antique Gold Celestial Orb Pendant Watch, with Diamond and Enamel Stars
Heavenly, Stellar.
Spherical and celestial jewels always call to us. Small wonder that we could not resist this pendant watch, circa 1900-1910. A large orb of gold is embellished all around with a constellation of five and six point stars — all rendered in black enamel, with the six point stars studded with rose cut diamonds. We love the contrast of the white diamonds, black enamel, and yellow gold.
Press on the watch crown and the cover pops open to reveal the watch face. A tiny, delightful butterfly in flight is right below 12 o’clock. The butterfly is a symbol of change and transformation, which we think is so fitting for a watch.
Two curb chains joined by a loop suspend the pendant. Wear this long or short by threading a chain through the loop.
Marked “K18”, maker’s mark “HL” and “100” inside cover.
18k, 14k (chains and loop), diamond, enamel.
Dimensions and weight:
● 56 mm long (including chains and loop)
● 25.5 mm diameter
● 27 grams
Period: Edwardian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. We note that the enamel is in excellent condition. The watch has a pin-set mechanism; to set the time, hold down the tiny button on the shoulder while turning the crown to the desired time. To wind, turn the crown, taking care not to overwind the first few times until familiar with the watch. The watch does run when we have set and wound it — but we are offering this pendant watch as-is, without representations as to accuracy or consistency. We have not attempted to service the watch or to open the cover of the watch mechanism. We suggest that the buyer have a trusted professional open and service the watch if so desired. Note also that the suspension chains may have been added later.
*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
