Antique Victorian "Ace of Diamonds” Black and Gold Locket, with Original Fitted Box
Antique Victorian "Ace of Diamonds” Black and Gold Locket, with Original Fitted Box
There is nothing quite like the drama of black, gold, and diamond is there?
A sleek oval of onyx is minimally (and strikingly) adorned with a single chunky old mine cut diamond. The diamond itself is mounted in a diamond shaped surround. Anyone else see an “ace of diamonds”?
All of this is seamlessly set in a locket of glow-y, bloomed gold. The bail and back are unadorned — the only embellishment the soft sheen of the gold itself. Chef’s kiss. So smooth, such a pleasure to hold and to wear. Wear the gold side facing out, as the mood strikes. Consider this locket double-sided.
The cherry on top? Inside, the sweetest inscription: “To Constance as a keepsake in memory of her much loved mother”, dated for “Xmas 1886.” One locket compartment is ready for your personal token. The other contains a lock of hair, which we can remove prior to delivery, if desired.
PS: The other cherry on top? The locket is accompanied by its original, fitted box, from Marshall & Sons, Edinburgh. Just imagine — Constance opened this very box that Christmas Day, 137 years ago.
Unmarked. Inscribed as noted above.
18k gold (inside photo rims test lower karat gold), diamond, onyx.
Dimensions and weight:
● 67 mm long
