Antique Imperial Russian Gold Long Guard Chain
Antique Imperial Russian Gold Long Guard Chain
Old World, Signature.
This chain is instantly recognizable as Russian. Four rings of gold form each link, forming a supple chain with visual interest. This guard chain, dating to the era of Tsar Nicholas, is a precious survivor of tumultuous times — especially scarce when they are full length and thoroughly hallmarked, as this is.
Made with old world craftsmanship, this heirloom piece is luxuriously silken and definitively dense. Wear wrapped up to four times, with or without other adornments. We happen to think it is the perfect companion to our Antique French Diamond Crescent Moon or any of our antique old world diamond pendants.
The clasp is of the mechanical twist variety (twist the screw and the hook hinges open and closed).
Marked with hallmarks for 56 zolotnik standard and woman’s head facing left (in use 1898-1908).
14k gold.
Dimensions and weight:
● 63 inches/ 160 cm long
● 4.3 mm wide
● 2.2 mm deep
● 52.6 grams
Period: Victorian/Edwardian (1898-1908)
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present.
