(SOLD) Antique Victorian Gold and Onyx Dragon Locket Pendant
This beauty is SOLD, but drop us a note if you would be interested in a similar jewel.
Gothic, Dramatic.
GOT, anyone?
A fierce medieval dragon is front and center to this large statement locket, circa 1890. The mythical beast is exquisitely rendered in high relief, its body in motion, wings outstretched, grasping a treasure (an old mine cut diamond) in its mouth. It is mounted on a locket of high polished, gleaming black onyx — so tactile in the hand. A glass backed compartment on the reverse accommodates a personal memento. The cherry on top? A rose-cut diamond-set bail in the shape of a fleur-de-lis, a symbol of France.
Chain shown is not included.
Marked with French owl.
18k gold, silver, onyx, diamond, glass.
Dimensions and weight:
● 63 mm long, including the bail
● 35 m wide
● 13.5 mm deep
● 27.3 grams
Period: Victorian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate; age-commensurate wear may be present.
