Antique Georgian Flat Cut Garnet and Agate Brooch/Pin
Antique Georgian Flat Cut Garnet and Agate Brooch/Pin
MystIcal, Magnetic.
We love dendritic agate and flat cut garnets, and here, we present a release from our own personal collection. The agate is particularly attractive, resembling a landscape painting of a lone tree in the mist. The agate is framed by a luminous halo of large flat cut garnets in the most delicious shades of purplish, pinkish red. This is one of the prettiest we have seen of this kind of brooch and larger than most (now becoming extremely scarce).
Wear this Georgian treasure as a brooch, or thread the pin fitting through a chain or ribbon to wear as a pendant. This beauty makes a strong case for bringing back the brooch!
The brooch is crafted in silver, with the pin fittings in gold (an antique replacement, with a flat hinge and C clasp).
Chains shown not included.
Unmarked.
Silver, 14k gold, garnet, agate.
Dimensions and weight:
● 29.5 mm long
● 25 mm wide
● 4.5 mm deep (not including pin)
● 7.7 grams
Period: Georgian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age commensurate wear may be present. Note that there is an edge chip to one of the garnets at 4 o’clock and minor edge chips/fleabites at 5 o’clock and 8 o’clock, along with scratching. This is not an exhaustive list of all wear that may be viewed under 10x magnification. Please examine photos and request additional info as needed. Pricing reflects these observations. In our opinion, these conditions are normal antique wear and acceptable for a jewel of this age.
