Antique Victorian Diamond Flower Spray Brooch/Pendant (3.25 ctw)
Antique Victorian Diamond Flower Spray Brooch/Pendant (3.25 ctw)
Natural, Beauty.
The Victorians loved naturalistic jewels, and this is a lovely example of a floral spray brooch, circa mid-19th century. In this case, we have a wild rose, symbolic of love (and secrecy).
A large cleftless heart-shaped cushion old mine cut diamond scintillates at the center of the single flowerhead, surrounded by sculpted petals set with chunky antique rose cut diamonds. Tender buds and leaves twinkle with diamonds of a melange of cuts — old mine, antique rose, and even our favorite table cuts. We love the mix of all these antique cut diamonds.
Added bonus? The brooch can also be worn as a pendant — thanks to the construction of the back of the jewel. The “stems” form a few natural loops on the reverse, through which a chain may be securely threaded for wearing on the vertical or horizontal. We love it when we can multi-task our jewels. Feel free to experiment — we love this worn as a brooch high on the shoulder of a blouse, on the lapel, at the throat of a high neckline. Use this to create some interesting swagging with a long chain. We think this would look fabulous on the gentleman as well!
