Antique French Victorian Era Diamond Cluster Convertible Pendant/Brooch
Antique French Victorian Era Diamond Cluster Convertible Pendant/Brooch
So French. So Versatile.
An old mine cut diamond cluster is front and center of this eye-catching piece of convertible jewelry, circa 1860/70. You know how we adore jewels that transform! To wear as a pendant, unscrew the pin and fold down the C-clasp. Re-screw the pin, fold up the C-clasp, and drop down the bail to wear as a brooch. So clever!
Look from the side to admire the dimensionality of this pendant/brooch —it rises in 3 tiers, like a wedding cake, topped with the central diamond.
Wear this, as we have, on a long chain, tripled, with a bit of swagging. Or pin this to the throat of a high necked blouse or on a menswear topper for a dash of flash.
Chain shown not included.
Marked with French eagle’s head.
18k gold, silver, diamond.
Dimensions and weight:
● 70 mm long (including drop down bail)
● 30 mm wide
● 13 mm deep (deepest point)
● 2.3 ctw diamond (14 old mine cut diamonds approx. 1.00 ctw and 67 antique rose cut diamonds approx. 1.3 ctw); H/I colors, mixed clarities
● 19.4 grams
Period: Victorian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. As is typical of the period, the diamonds are set in silver on top of gold. The gold is signature antique French, with a note of rosiness. At one time, there may have been two additional fringe (we think 3 is the right number, by the way).
