(SOLD) Antique Victorian Gold "Wild Roses" Scent Bottle Chatelaine Pendant
(SOLD) Antique Victorian Gold "Wild Roses" Scent Bottle Chatelaine Pendant
Romantic, Tactile.
We have a special fondness for functional jewels, especially receptacles for the personal and sentimental. What can be more intimate than a favorite perfume?
We adore every aspect of this jewel — the double handled shape, the rich yellow gold, and the dimensional profusion of floral and foliate details. In particular, we see an abundance of wild roses — symbolic of beauty and love in the language of flowers.
The design is completely in the round, with the back as beautiful as the front. The hinged lid (with a brilliant blue enamel accent) flips open and snaps closed securely. Come a little closer and your nose will detect lingering traces of a long ago fragrance. How intriguing!
Likely once part of a chatelaine, this bottle pendant is gorgeous now on an elegant sautoir, like the one shown here (not included).
Large, antique gold scent bottle pendants like this are truly scarce finds and becoming increasingly so. We were thrilled to discover this beauty on our most recent trip to Europe.
Note: At buyer's option, we can add another gold loop at the top of the suspension chain to allow a neck chain to pass through at a "parallel" orientation to the pendant (allowing the pendant to lie flat). This is not necessary if this will be worn suspended from a dog clip or similar. Select this add-on option at the drop down menu. (If you require another, specific configuration of an add-on loop, please contact us to inquire). Please allow an additional week for the work to be done.
Umarked.
