Antique French Victorian Double Coiled Snake Bracelet
Antique French Victorian Double Coiled Snake Bracelet
Additional photos forthcoming. Please contact us if you require additional images sooner.
Timeless, Sophisticated.
The coiled snake bracelet is timeless. Ours is 19th century, French, and refined — presented in buttery 18k gold without a trace of excess adornment. The gold is a rich yellow, with the soft, velvety feel that only time imparts. The design is sleek — with a bricked pattern on the body and a scaled texture on the head, studded with two rubies for the eyes.
The snake’s body coils two full turns and expands to adjust to the contours of the wrist. Push the bracelet higher up on the arm for extra drama (we like the head facing up the arm). Or position lower, at the wrist, with the head facing and slithering down toward the hand. Chic and sophisticated in any way.
One of our favorite antique snake bracelets ever — for its luxury, simplicity, and clarity of form.
Shown on a 6 inch wrist.
Marked with French Mercury’s head and “Brevete S.G.D.G.” (a French notation for “patented without government guarantee,” used between 1844 to 1968).
18k gold, ruby.
Dimensions and weight:
● 10.7 cm/4.2 inches long (span measured straight from head to tail)
● Approximately 46 mm inside diameter (coil unexpanded, “at rest”; note that the coils expand to adjust to the wrist)
● 11.2 mm wide (at the head)
● 6.4 mm diameter (at the body, with tapering to the tail)
● 55.8 grams
Period: Victorian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age commensurate wear may be present. There is no closure on this bracelet — simply coil the snake around the wrist. Depending on the positioning on the wrist, the head of the snake can be slightly raised from the wearer’s body. We recommend putting the bracelet on after your garments to avoid catching the head of the snake on the sleeve.
