Friendship, Love.

A charming token of friendship, circa 1838-47. The central plaque bears the declaration “Amitie” (friendship, in French) in gold, black, and white enamel. The shank and shoulders are embellished with scrolls and shells, highlighted by black enamel.

These rings were typically lightweight, as this one is (gold at the time was scarce and used sparingly in jewelry), and this is a remarkable survivor of 175 years. Consider wearing this as a charm on a chain, especially given the relatively delicate nature of the ring.

To hold this jewel is to be reminded that love and friendship endure even the worst of times — especially relevant now.

Marked with French eagle’s head (single frame, in use from 1838-1847).

18k gold, enamel.

Dimensions and weight:

● 5 mm wide tapering to 2.9 mm wide

● 1.2 mm deep at deepest point

● 1.8 grams

● US ring size 10.5

Period: Late Georgian/Early Victorian

*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. Note that there is enamel wear to the first “I” in Amitie.

This is a FINAL SALE (no returns, exchanges) and no resizing service is offered. No exceptions.

*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
