Antique Regency "Tuxedo" Jet Hoop and Split Pearl Half Hoop Rings
Antique Regency "Tuxedo" Jet Hoop and Split Pearl Half Hoop Rings
Regency, Exemplary.
The fashion in the first decades of the 19th century called for gemstone rings set in full or half hoops, often worn in multiples.
Here, we have two such rings, that we love to wear together, for the minimalist yet high impact “tuxedo” look of black paired with white. The full hoop is a scarce band of faceted jet— with the stones still sparkling after all these years. So modern at 200 years old. The half hoop is of 7 well-matched, large, lustrous split white pearls, spanning the width of the finger. We are pleased with the larger size of the pearls and the ungraduated look.
We are offering them singly, but our hope is that someone will undertake custodianship of the two together (as we did).
Similar rings can be seen in “Rings 1800-1910,” by Verlaine Davies at pages 16, 19.
Both unmarked. Gold for both rings appear slightly rosy.
Jet Hoop:
9k gold, jet.
● 3.6 mm long/wide x 2.6 mm deep x 1.8 grams
● US size between 7 1/12 and 7 3/4 (cannot be re-sized)
Pearl Half Hoop:
9k gold, pearl.
● 5.4 mm long/wide at the face (5 mm long/wide at the 2 end gemstones) x 3.8 mm deep x 2.5 grams
