Five classical female busts of graduating sizes are skillfully carved in profile in high relief in natural coral in this rare Victorian beauty.

The largest, central figure is Artemis, Greek goddess of the hunt, identified by the crescent moon tucked into her hair. Another is Psyche, Greek goddess of the soul, shown with butterfly wings. The other portraits are each unique, with individual features and headdresses, likely other ancient Greek goddesses.

Each portrait is beautifully framed in Etruscan Revival gold wirework and granulation, joined by rosettes, and finished with supple woven gold mesh chain. The rich gold is a lovely foil to the peachy pink hue of the coral.

Safety chain is present.
