(SOLD) Antique Regency-Early Victorian Gold and Precious Topaz Girandole Brooch/Pendant
(Pre-listing. Additional photos forthcoming or on request).
Rich, Elegant.
This brooch (with a pendant hook) takes us back nearly 200 years to a period of transition from cannetille to repousé, from Georgian to Victorian. We love the ornateness of the gold work and the extravagance of the precious topaz, all tempered by the monochromatic look.
The shape of this brooch, with the triple drops, is charactistic of the 1830s. It is rare to find an example with all the drops intact, as over the years, these drops were often converted to earrings.
The drops are each removable (how amazing would they look if you were to hook them onto a pair of baroque pearl earrings fitted with loops to accommodate these)?
Unmarked.
14-15k gold, precious topaz.
Dimensions and weight:
● 59 mm long
● 42.3 mm wide
● 6.16 ctw precious topaz
● 14.8 grams
Period: 1835-1840
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. There is a sizable chip at the edge of center gemstone of the top section (along with the expected surface scratches). The chip is not readily noticeable given the monochramatic look, and on casual viewing, it blends in with the faceting of the stone. The stone is stable. Pricing reflects this condition note.
*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
