This extra large niello slide locket has hidden, sentimental depths — the niello is a clean pinstriped design, but slide open the locket to reveal an inscription in German, from the traditional song, “The Good Comrade,” which pays tribute to a fallen colleague in battle. The inscription is loosely itranslated as “I have a comrade, a better one I cannot find.” The Good Comrade was written in 1809, set to the music composed in 1825 and is currently played on veteran remembrance days.

The locket has two compartments with rims and covers, ready to receive your personal mementos. A hinged bail and slide stop mechanism at the bottom of the locket are quality details.

This would look striking on a niello watch chain, long or short. A special, loving gift.
