(SOLD) Antique Victorian 12-Point Diamond Star Brooch/Pendant
Fiery, Dazzling.
Quintessentially late 19th century Victorian — when diamond stars were much in vogue. Ladies adorned their décolletage and hair with diamond stars like this beauty. Empress Sissi of Austria was immortalzed by Franz Xaver Wintehalter with a constellation of diamond stars studded throughout her famously long tresses.
Wear this as a brooch solo or clustered with other diamond celestials. Or, wear as a pendant by screwing off the removable fitting to attach a chain or ribbon to the guide wire or the fold down bail. Or, if “more is more”, dangle a diamond charm from the guide wire. We love the versatility!
The diamonds are set in silver, over gold, as was the practice at a time.
Chain shown is not included.
Unmarked.
14k/15k gold, silver, diamond.
Dimensions and weight:
● 37 mm diameter
● 12.2 mm deep (with brooch fitting); 8.5 mm deep (without brooch fitting)
● 6.8 grams
● 5.5 ctw diamond (estimated H/I and K/L colors and VS/SI clarities)
Period: Victorian
*Please note that all dimensions and weights are approximate. Age-commensurate wear may be present. The dangling loop on the fold down bail was newly added.
*For deliveries outside of the continental U.S., please contact us for shipping information.
